He was a long time and very knowledgeable dealer in ancient coins. I saw him many times at shows in the Detroit area over the past 40 years or so. RIP.
I first met him a long time ago, probably when I was in my teens. Even then I was deep into medieval with an emphasis on the British Isles. When you are a YN like I was you dealt with a lot of somewhat arrogant people in the business - Eldert definitely was not one of them - he was passionate about coins and spoke to you as you were the only person in a whole room of several hundred people. The Ancient/Medieval shows on the west coast were then invitation only and I got mine from Pegasi.

Indeed a sad loss for the hobby. Only met him a couple of times, but I can echo his ability to focus on each person as if they were the only person at the show. Brings to mind the old saying: "the true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good"
