Forecasting 80’s Baseball

As a kid who grew up in the 80’s, it’s nice to see the spike in the market the past few years. That ‘84 Donruss Mattingly for example, in a PSA 10, went from about a $600 dollar card, to a card that is selling for around $1500 now. ‘89 Griffey’s continue to steadily rise. My questions for all you other 80’s collectors out there is, do you think we will see this great era continue to rise? What’s the one card you see as potential riser that is perhaps undervalued at the moment?

Gwynn and Ripken RCs seems to be going strong too. I see room to grow with Boggs and Puckett.

If Bonds and Clemens get in the HOF. As they both should be in. Their cards will increase.
I collect hall of fame rookie cards, https://www.instagram.com/stwainfan/
I am not too sure you are going to see much of an increase on anything past 1985.The market after 1985 became to cluttered with so much product being over produced.1984 Donruss is your best bet.
No key RCs in 84D other than the Mattingly. And I actually think the 89 randy johnson RCs might have a little room for growth, especially the Fleer variations. Plus Schilling RCs will see a slight bump when he’s inducted next year.

Look for O-pee-chee rookies to spike and probably opc's in general. Mattingly currently under the donruss, but I think opc will close in quick. opc Puckett is on the rise currently. 1987 Leaf Bonds will explode. Canseco and Will should go up also.
The Ripken Traded use to be one of the top cards. That card has not moved in years. We saw the increase in 2016 (along with everything else) where that card fetch around 2,200. Then it plummeted back to its original price with a little growth. The Ripken base however has grown about 30%. From a $500 card to now about an $800. Can’t say I saw that coming.
I can also see the Canseco. It has also grown from $60 a few years ago to now a steady $160 (which I still find it to be undervalued. That card could go for $400 and people would still chase it.
The 84 Mattingly Topps has almost tripped in price. I remember buying one for about $105 and now they seem to go for about $275-300.
Henderson rookie hasn’t done much either. I would have expected it to be about an $800 card by now. Especially with the 10’s being at least 20K but yet it just never gets that extra push and usually remains under $500 on most sales.
89 UD Griffey remains to be king of the 80’s as I remember purchasing PSA 10’s for $200 back around 2012 and now they are selling in the $750-850 range. My 10’s have long been sold so I may just have to get another soon (if I can find one in a new label holder) that’s centered and preferable not being sold by PWCC/Probstein.
If anyone here has one for sale in a new holder that centered and wants to make a quick sale at a comp price, message me.
Good question my top 4 undervalued choices are:
And if you’d like a really great place to find the next big movers look to 80’s basketball!
