John Calipari is leaving Kentucky to go to the NBA

EstilEstil Posts: 7,070 ✭✭✭✭

So I guess after all these years of rumors he finally decided to go for greenier pastures and go for NBA riches. I guess being in the same job in any occupation for over ten years would be kinda boring so while it will be sad for Big Blue Nation to see him go, I do wish him the best and hope he can win an NBA Championship someday...wherever he ends up going.

Here's the breaking news story and some speculation on where he might go and who might take over at Kentucky:

He's one heck of a coach. It will be sad to see college basketball lose him. It will be interesting to see how the transition to the NBA will go. I remember Coach K of Duke was offered the Lakers head coaching job years ago, but stayed at Duke, and I always wondered how Coach K would have done in the NBA. I think John Calipari is one of the best coaches in college basketball so it will be interesting to see if the success carries over to the pros. The NBA is a different beast.

Wait, I forgot it's April Fools day. I'm always the first one to go down on April Fools day. Well, once again my shoes have been glued to the floor. 😂

As this former Kentucky coach found out the hard way...

I forgot Calipari was with the New Jersey Nets for a few seasons and didn't do too well with a record of 72-112, so he would probably be better off to stay in Kentucky anyway. He's got the perfect situation in Kentucky, and he's already got a ring.

If the April Fools thread would have said "Tom Brady leaves Patriots for the Bucs", I never would have fallen for it, because I know that could never happen.

At least he wasn't stupid about it and didn't go to his old team's rival like a certain other quarterback did... :P
