3/30 Overpriced, properly priced, underpriced? 1984 Fleer Kirby Puckett @ $425. Result: Properly

1957Braves1957Braves Posts: 318 ✭✭✭

How about some fun discussions while we wait this bug out.

I’ll throw out a card each day, and people can say overpriced, properly priced, underpriced.

Classifications

Overpriced-given the player, set, condition, etc. this card is currently selling for higher than you would expect. You would sell at the current price.

Properly priced- same thing, with your feeling that you would buy or sell a this price and feel comfortable.

Underpriced- again same and you would buy at the current price.

I don’t have VCP access, so I’ll just list the card and the average of the last two eBay sales.

Today’s card. 1984 Fleer Kirby Puckett PSA 10 @ $420. Verdict: properly priced

3/31 card: 1965 Topps Joe Namath PSA 6. Only one recent sale which was best offered at $3500. So let’s say $3000

    Properly priced.

Been in this range for awhile and with the pop rising it has still held price.

I self subbed my only copy six years or so ago and sold it for just under $450 which was a little high at the time. Plenty more have made their way into the marketplace since and prices are steady it appears.

I agree. Carries a justifiable premium to his 1985 issues.

    Properly priced.
Kirby is the HOF rookie in the update set. Fair share of centering issues with that set. Wouldn't be interested in purchasing but if I had the choice of Kirby or Clemens I'd take Kirby.

    1957Braves,

Why not close the thread on the Puckett and open a new one for the Namath? Keep it organized. I think this topic/post is quite cool. Will be fun.

I think the Namath is priced right....unless it is a very strong 6.

I have seen lower prices very recently most likely due to the virus.
People are losing jobs and holding off spending $. Your example is not a $50 card.
You cannot in any way determine a price w/o looking at the card.

A truly spectacular example may be over VCP but reasonably priced.

A very low end card might be worth less.

Odd I have both cards you have referenced so far in the grades you have noted. Get out of my head man.

Mickey71-okay, I can make it a new thread each day. I can go back to this format or stop altogether if there is not enough interest.

Jay0791-agreed that each card is different, especially on the mid grades. I wanted to avoid using a particular example currently for sale to avoid inadvertently calling out the seller for having too high a price. I didn’t put too much thought into this idea when I came up with this. Just a middle of the road card for the grade was my original thinking. Otherwise we get mired in definitions. Just keeping it light.

Rex is-I can’t possibly know the cards you have. Just like I can’t possibly know you’re watching the Joe Exotic Netflix series wearing a red shirt right now waiting for your lasagna to finish cooking.
