I have decided that I'm going to buy. More of the vintage cards, and less of the modern cards.

I collect hall of fame rookie cards, https://www.instagram.com/stwainfan/

    It's just a typo.

    Any reason for your decision?

Yes to me a Bob Gibson rookie card. It should be worth more than a Ronald Acuna rookie card. Yes I know Acuna has a ton of talent. How many guys that had talent did live up to it? That's not to say he won't. Plus vintage cards are like a piece of history.

I am doing the same. Back about 1979-80 I had a handful of the 53 Bowman color cards, including the Mantle, Berra, Feller, Wynn and Hodges, all in roughly vg-ex condition. However, in the summer of 1980, I went to a debate camp and needed money to pay. I think you can figure out the rest of the story.

In December I was at a local card show and ran across 2 1953 Bowmans in fair condition for 50 cents each and purchased them. It was like opening Pandora's Box. I now have 114 of the 160, but few of the stars. I'm going to sell a number of my Heritage SSP cards to fund those purchases. In all likelihood, I will also sell some of the Heritage master sets or even trade them for cards I need. Next, I will go after a lower condition 59 set. I once had one about 35 years ago when they were about $150, but I know that'll never happen again.

I would never be able to settle on just one type or era. I appreciate all of it. True collector at heart I guess. it comes down to affordability to me mostly, but certain items get more priority for sure. I have found myself questioning a $40 that I like, but will spend $100 on a newer limited print run Garvey card w/o thinking twice and I am trying to balance that out. I have been saying it for a long time, but it might finally be sinking in a bit. I can have both in moderation. Maybe only buy 1 of the 7 different parallel Gar's and then have money to buy a Gibson RC, for example, too.

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.
