Starting to see wholesale prices on actual pre-1933 US gold coins separating from the "it's just bullion" phase.
This should be the way it is.

Is your reasoning because of the exemption that FDR gave to gold coinage minted prior to 1933?
If so, why do you think that the federal government wouldn't change their own rules when they feel the need?
I knew it would happen.
NO!
For the past year or so, foreign countries have been dumping pre-33 US coins on the market to get dollars!
The coins are now re-acquiring the numismatic premium as the availability decreases.
Re-acquisition of the numismatic premiums does depend upon the number of coin collectors who will still remain as active collectors while all of this economic turmoil runs its course. Agree? Disagree?
I've got hopes that many of the low mintage modern bullion keys will retain numismatic premiums too, but I don't always get what I want.
I knew it would happen.
thats different , the low mintage moderns are garbage.
no one likes that stuff , so they dont care how low the mintage is

They sure sell a lot of it to people who don't like that stuff.
I knew it would happen.
I am not talking about modern commems. Look at the OP.
I said Pre-1933 US gold coins
That is what has been decimated by foreign central bank selling for dollars.
MODERN gold commems will probably stay "melt value" forever.
I just find it reassuring to see a trend of some value placed on actual American gold coins from past eras.
Actually the way it should be is that it’s bullion, and most of the time actually it’s just scrap, and the smart money knows this, all “premium” is marketing hype, wait til Morgan’s start going for what they should be going for melt and less...
must be another slow day on the comic book forum.

Looks like it from the replies.
I simply noted in the OP that US gold coins are showing signs of NOT being just bullion.
I don't much care what YOU buy.
