I preferred to ask if they had Prince Albert in the can
This was in like 5th grade or so and yes we used the refrigerator and Prince Albert lines but had the most fun when I got a crow call for Christmas. We'd call and ask politely, "May I speak to Connie Crow?" They'd reply saying "You have the wrong number" or "No one by that name lives here" and then my buddy would blown the crow call and I would say, "Oh, never mind, she just walked in!" I'd try to come up with a different name each time, like Hortense, Gabby or whatever, My buddy would get laughing and nothing would come out of the crow call which made us laugh even more. The usual response was, "Dang kids!"
