I hate to admit but when I was young there were no rotary phones. I simply picked up the receiver and an operator would say “number please.” Kind of like Lily Tomlin on Laugh In. However, often I would pick up the receiver and two ladies would be jawing. We were on a party line. I still remember our home number “142”.

Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.

And when you used the rotary phone and wanted to call long distance you had to dial O and have the operator dial it for you

@pocketpiececommems- Or on a pay phone calling long distance and you have one minute to add more change before the call was cut off! 😂
