red book mintages

I've got a 2017 red book, looking at 1969 and 70 s nickle, I see two mintages and two prices. I don't understand. How could one tell from which montage a coin is from?

I'm pretty sure the number in parentheses is proof mintage. Peace Roy

Yes, one of the few reasons a redbook is still of assistance
