PSA verification number does not show up on website

So I bought a card between 5 to 10 years ago for a lot of money. Am thinking of selling it now and I checked the PSA certification number and the number was not found at all. Does this happen only if the card is fake or is it possible that the number was just not reflected on the website? The card looks very real as does the holder. Thanks.

This is something I have been curious about.

I distinctly remember bidding on a card in the 1990's, a PSA 10 Harmon Killebrew 1963 card #500.

I was the under bidder and actually knew the winner and found out later that he had won it.

The PSA population report says there are no 10's of this card.

  • Thanks. My card is a PSA 3 so no population report issue. Issue is whether PSA ever makes mistakes by not accurately
Reflecting certification numbers on website or somehow removing those certification numbers. Would be good to know if folks have any experience w this.

I guess the point I was TRYING to make was that there are/could be (?) out there that PSA doesn't have in their database.

If it's missing from the Pop report, I assume it won't show up if you have the certification #.

I can't imagine the guy who owns the PSA 10 card I was referring to cracked it out and sent in the flip.

I own a Jordan 1990 Kenner Starting Lineup PSA 8 card that when you type in the cert# it comes up blank too so it does happen. I could have called PSA to get some answers but I honestly just forgot about it until now. Mine is only a $30-40
card where yours sounds expensive. I would call PSA on monday for quick results or you could send them an email with pics of your card then wait to hear back which could possibly take weeks.

  • Thanks. Will do that. Would be interesting to hear if others have had that experience.

  • Joe Banzai, I see your point thanks. Definitely makes sense in context of PSA 10 where there is only 1 or 2 and you can tell card not reflected in population report. In my case, there are hundreds so difficult to tell whether my card is reflected in the population report.

I recently purchased an Al Pacino autographed baseball. Prior to my purchase, I noticed that it was not in the PSA database. I contacted PSA about it, and they corrected the oversight. I agree with Eric. Contact PSA on Monday, and be prepared to e-mail images to them. It may simply be a data entry error. Best of luck, Gator Joel.

I am assuming if the cert # isn't there when you search for it, it's probably not in the population report, but you never know.

    Have you tried contacting Gayle?
