March Madness (NCAA Tournament) has been canceled too! Should players get extra year eligibility?

Wow, I would've never dreamed/imagined that this scene from Space Jam could really happen...

https://youtu.be/dEtj-Kj1YQo

But seriously I thought nothing short of invasion or nuclear war or something could cause March Madness to be completely scratched this season. And we had such a good shot at the title this year too...

EDIT: Would I be out of line to suggest that in light of the NCAA Tournament (and I'm presuming pretty much all the other NCAA postseasons around this time) getting canceled, that all the players should be granted an extra year of eligibility, seeing as how they didn't get a fair chance of competing for a championship? Honestly I don't know off the top of my head if anyone in the media or whatever has brought this up but it's just something I've been thinking about ever since the NCAA-T was called off.

From March Madness to March Sadness. :( And like I mentioned before, my beloved alma mater finished the season in sixth place in the AP Poll (so a likely two seed) so we had a real good shot this year, this could've very well been our year for title #9 (not to be confused with Tammy Wynette's Apartment #9) but now all of Big Blue Nation will never get to know for sure one way or the other. :(

I know all of the college players and fans are really disappointed, to work so hard all season to get to this tournament just to have this happen. I never imagined something like this actually taking place. I can't believe there isn't going to be a March Madness. I just hope we can somehow get this under control soon.

No national champion this year, though I suppose Kansas gets bragging rights for being number 1, poll-wise.

At least you made it to college. I was too stupid, heck my mom had to sleep with the principal of my high school just to get him to let me attend classes there.

In fact make the extra year mandatory.

Every class in that additional year will be remedial English.

I didn't mean that as a joke. The extra year can be used to start a master's degree or go for an additional bachelors.

I'm tired of college athletes who speak like fourth graders.

Giving all current players an extra year of eligibility would penalize those players who are still in high school that wi be entering college next fall.

It would deprive these newly matriculating players of roster spots and playing time that would open up with the departure of those current players who would complete their 4 years this year, unless your proposal is adopted.

Life is not always fair, bad stuff happens and people many times have no remedy for negative experiences.

Well I sure see flagrant stereotyping is alive and well here. I believe IIRC Jeff Sheppard (1998 NCAA Finals MVP) used his redshirt year for the above.
