These are the first ones I have owned. Very cool for sure. Also some other currency in the photos.

An interesting fact is that Laommi Baldwin, signer of the Massachusetts $2, was the developer and promoter of the Baldwin variety of the apple.
What's with the big Annie Oakley holes? Peace Roy

In the 1790s these were finally redeemed for 1 cent on the dollar for 20(?) year bonds that were payable in ca. 1815. The phrase "Not worth a Continental" refers to the fact that these notes effectively lost 99% of their value by the cessation of hostilities in 1783. Of course people held onto the notes in hopes of redemption and after a protracted effort they were finally called in and redeemed for the bonds. The hole in the note is the cut out cancellation. There are probably 10 cancelled notes for every uncancelled note presently which is reflected in the higher prices or the uncancelled notes.
