How to determine series for unopened wax packs

I have seen some posts describing the process of determining the series of an unopened wax pack of Topps cards as trying to discern the player through the paper on the back of the pack, then finding the player's card number. Is there any other way to determine the series? Any notations on the pack, color differences, art, etc? I'm thinking of mostly 1960s packs. Thanks for any information!

Wrapper variations coincided with certain series. For example, any 1970 Topps baseball wax pack with an All Star Poster wrapper variation is a 1st series pack.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
  • Thanks for that information! Do you know of any index that describes the variations for each year?
