Probably been brought up before. Was I out of line to require shipping in a trade to cross in mail?

The person has 200+ post, we are trading coins for coins, and they are on vacation till Tuesday.
Neither of us have dealt with each other before.
I asked if he was willing to cross ship and he said yes, then told me he was on vacation till Tuesday.
Yet he wanted me to ship so it would be waiting for him when he got home.
Was I wrong to not want to ship and wait till we both ship on same day?

How would each of you ensure that the other has done as agreed upon at the same time?
Perhaps one of you can provide references that would put the other at ease - to the extent of feeling comfortable shipping first.

Not much to discuss - this was the deal agreed upon, essentially a contract.
The other person was changing the terms of the contract, and
you didn't approve. The end.
Are we talking big money coins here or small time widgets?
The specific terms don't really matter, as long as you both agree to them. If not, it's not really a good business deal.

Probably wouldn't even agree to the cross ship arrangement with a member with only 200 posts.
Not everyone posts that much in less than a week.😉

Simultaneously mailing can't be enforced and really does nothing to prevent being scammed. But if that was agreed upon, then sure you can stick to it.

All good, he backed out and sold to someone else, so much for his agreeing to cross ship.

was trading with a person here on this board a good while back he wanted silver I wanted toners for my circulated sets. (he has passed away now sadly) The first trade he replied with a tracking number right away and so did I. We did 10 or so trades. I think your better off that the deal did not work out in all honesty.

That is a very interesting view point and very telling. Your only basing a transaction based on quantity of mouth instead of fact, truth and actual performance. I wonder who else that could bring to mind.
Guess that is why I went to my LCS today and sold a $100 face of ebay bucks purchased 90% silver for 11x face instead of listing in the bullion sell thread for 12/ 12.5x face. I just don't have enough post count I guess even though I have been a decent amount of time member and have had successful transactions with well established members here.

You can't. It's a ridiculous paranoid condition. Let's say we go all the way and we're on the phone with each other mailing the packages simultaneously. If the other party isn't trustworthy, the package could be empty.
An unenforceable rule isn't worth having.
Either trust each other or pay 3% for insurance by having each person Paypal $800 to the other. "Cross shipping " is an exercise in self-delusion.

Post count is a worthless metric. We have had posters with high post counts go rogue (e.g. Kryptonitecomics).

There are no guarantees in life but a transaction with a forum member having a high post count and several years of active participation here is far more likely to be successful that with a new member with a low post count.
