Shoebox Finds

Some of my shoebox finds for the day. I was looking through my wife’s scrapbooking stuff in her office for things to sell on Facebook marketplace. I came across this shoebox that had the word “basketball” written on it.

Here are just a few of the things I found inside.

Wow nice find I never have any luck like that when it comes to cards.

  • Searched this wall unit. The writing on the shoebox is my mom’s handwriting. Easily stashed there for a decade or more. We’ve been here for 17 years.

That is fun stuff ! Did you remember you still had these ?

That Phil Jackson card is the exact card my mom used to show me when teaching me about Stranger Danger.

Nice find! When selling, I would use "Cigar Box Find" rather than shoe box. There seems to be quite a premium on cigar box finds.

I can honestly say that I don’t recall ever having these. I recall having cards I can’t find. I assume I sold them in HS. I sold a Thurman Munson rookie for cheap. I sold this exact bird/magic for cheap. I also actually split a bunch of 80 basketball including a bird/magic. (I still have that 😭). I had no idea these cards existed. My mom probably dropped off and my wife stuck in her scrapbook cabinet. I would have never placed them there.

Probably my biggest regret from childhood collection was breaking apart all of my 80/81 Basketball. Had several Bird/Magic RCs and now they are displayed together again, but apart.

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

    Awesome stuff! Congrats.
Have to admit I was a little disappointed opening the thread. I'm still waiting for that find of '88 Donruss from some poor sap.

Great cards! Even more amazing is the fact your mom didn't throw those cards out.
