I want to hide the rest of the coins for now, to see what you all think based only on the hair areas. Which has more detail?
Note: to enlarge pics, right click on them and select "open in new tab"

Take a peak at the Turban.
Yes I see what you are referring to but the OP’s statement is to base it solely on the hair
IMO, t\e coin on the right has more detail but the coin on the left is a higher grade.
I don't understand the point. Is it that some higher grade bust halves aren't as well detailed as lower grade ones? Who's surprised?
The left coin is probably graded higher.
Lance.
I agree with Lance..….it just doesn't matter!
I like the one on the left (1832?).
No idea about the coin on the right....<1830?
Perhaps the POINT is to educate folks about what you and I posted that may or may not be correct- that strike detail on a coin is only a part of its grade. Let's see if we were correct.
OP said hair detail.
LOL! Yeap I overlooked that! Yes, the coin on the right has more hair detail. Perhaps a teaching of how much striking weakness or die deterioration effects the grade is forthcoming!
As you phrased it, you’re correct, regardless of how the those two coins happen to be graded.

The difference in color of the two coins skews the visual appearance. I see stronger details on the Left coin (although it has darker color and more contrast) the curl show much greater detail and high points.
I would guess the left coin had a weaker strike, and has less over all wear than the right. Based on the high point wear of the right coin I would also guess the left coin has a higher grade than the right coin ( if not details)
And for something unrelated, why does it seem like there is an Adam’s apple at the red circles?

There is an 1808 known as the Adams Apple variety.
Right...the 1808 O.107 has a shallow, crescent-shaped lump kinda resembling the Adam's apple. But the above is not one of them.
Lance.
The level of detail on a coin, or lack of detail, can vary from many factors:
Striking pressure
Die wear
Planchet quality - improperly annealed (hard planchet)
Die settings - one side of a coin can have more detail
Die finish after lapping - die can be more convex created strong central areas and weak peripheries, etc...
Individual die characteristics as Lance pointed out
Degree of circulation wear
I voted no opinion, need to see the entire coin
I need to see the entire photo as well with both sides showing, jmo
I voted right coin. Overall the hair looks a bit better. Lots of different factors though. Seeing the whole coins side by side will be great.
I was one of the voters who said they were basically the same because it seemed to me that the LH coin was better struck but had a touch more wear, while the RH coin was a lighter strike, but less wear and to my mind pretty much the same grade or different by a point or two. If I were asked which one I'd prefer, I'd probably go with the RH coin as it has slightly better eye appeal IMO.

I think the coin on the left is higher grade (less wear), I think the right coin may have a better strike with more wear. Is the one on the left an 1820 O.107 “no serifs”? It has a suspicious die lump in the obverse field! 🤓
