Heritage FUN Auction pickups
Only added a couple of notes from the Heritage auction to the collection but they were a couple of good ones. First up was a great First Charter note that is the sole example known on the bank, it's real pretty, and a serial number 1 to boot. When the lot came up Thursday night, all the New York specialists turned around to watch me as they all knew I really wanted the note and they were curious as to whether I would "man up" or "wimp out". Well, my only competition was a Heritage Live bidder and I managed to bring it home for what I felt was a reasonable (although not cheap) price:
After that purchase, I kind of sat back and let it digest for a while. Then, towards the end of the New York section, I added this small-size #1 - not a rare bank but it is the A1A note and it is in a Gem holder:
When Heritage served up their auction food that night, I took my share of roast beef and the other offerings - I kind of figured that I had paid for it ......

Congratulations on an awesome pair !
super notes...congrats!
As a collector of NY currency, too, it's hard not to admire those prizes. I wish you a most sincere congratulations on those additions to an already great collection.
However, I tend to swim (bid) in the shallower end of the pool, so can say that I didn't cost you a penny on either of those.
nice notes, cool score on the $5 troy note
Super cool!

Beautiful $5’s! That 1875 example is a knockout!
