sports trivia website
stumbled across sporcle a week or so ago and i've been addicted ever since. the downside to this site is that you'll have to sell a piece of your soul to the devil as it pours a helping of molasses on your pc and hits you with a few pop-up ads when a quiz commences, but once you close them out everything runs seamlessly for the most part.
i consider myself to possess above-average knowledge of most sports, but some of these really kicked my ass. i was thinking about posting a quiz o' the day each morning and have everyone post their results, but the honor system would definitely be in play if we did so and i'm not sure i trust all of you cats.
one thing to keep in mind: if you can't spell a name properly -- whether it be a person, team, sport, etc. -- you will be royally screwed. so don't pull a d-man and type drew breeze or micheal erving in the box, cuz the quiz will basically look at you like a dumbass and the clock will keep rolling. also, when it comes to individuals, all you need to type in the box is the last name and it'll accept (if it is spelled properly). choose categories, subcategories (on the right side), select the sport you want, then browse around for the quiz which best suits your fancy. you'll also notice that it's not just limited to sports.
if you guys promise to eschew cheating, i might conjure up a contest whereby the top score wins a prize of some sort. we'll see. i'm confident that some of you will smoke this like crack.
enjoy!

Would screencaps work to "prove" final scores? Might be too techy for some members, but should provide a modicum of proof for a contest.
it would provide a modicum, and i have thought about that, but you can take the same quiz over and over and over again if you so desire. in other words, if someone opts to commit a transgression, they'll ultimately succeed. hopefully we can kick it around and figure something out.
btw i haven't tapped into the masters quizzes yet, but some of the others from subcategory golf are really challenging.

Well, I am all for this. I think it's a great idea. Everyone loves a good quiz. Heck, that word game has been a tasty treat the last few days, so why not? Feed us! We're hungry!

That was fun! I got 54% right. I started getting tripped up with the older players. That is an awesome trivia site!
i nudged you @ 64%, but i think i'm older than you are so that definitely aided my cause
would love for everyone to try this puppy out. i'm especially curious to see how many @dallasactuary would get right....

That is an interesting website.
When i say the name "Sporcle", with the first four letters being the first four letters of the word sport, i figured it was only sports related. However there are many other topics on there as well.
I'm not sure how you would do an honest contest with this? Myself included, i wouldn't trust anyone on here not to cheat. In fact, i wouldn't trust anyone else on the internet regarding this if a contest was involved. With the lone exception of Dimeman who isn't proficient enough with Google to effectively cheat.
