Coming up on the halfway point of the NBA season...

erikthredderikthredd Posts: 9,035 ✭✭✭✭✭

How are some of our resident NBA fans feeling about their teams to this point? Consensus on the Russ-Harden & Lebron/AD pairings so far? Should GS trade D'Angelo Russell? Cleveland with Kevin Love?
I'm loving this Celtics team this season. They're back to playing a top of the league pace on defense,Brown & Tatum are both on a superstar path and the C's will come very close to having four players averaging 20ppg soon. The bad taste left over from last years team got washed away real quick. Looking forward to seeing how this current team matches up with the other EC contenders come playoff time.

I have yet to watch a game. I'll go check the standings and see who is good and who is not. :o

Looks like a Bucks/Lakers Final. GS went to heck in a handbasket!

If Kawhi and George stay healthy it will be them or the Lakers playing the Bucks.

I've never seen a guy get nicked up every game like AD does. Finger in the eye, r shoulder causes him temporary, excruciating pain when his shot is blocked, falls down awkwardly after shots a lot. He keeps playing , got 46 in his last game. Lakers quitclaimed their whole team and the future for him. They should get at least 2 championship runs. If Boogie comes back look out.

GS has cratered deeper than the asteroid that killed off the dinosaurs.

GS should close down Draymond Green at some time this season, play their young players to see what they have, consider trading some of the productive veterans on the roster for draft picks, observe D Lo a little longer and maybe trade him for someone who can play the 3 and retool for next year.

I would like to see the Clippets and Bucks in the finals.

ironically i have yet to see a Rockets game in person this season, but i saw the Celtics play the Luka-less Mavs up in Dallas a few weeks ago.

Walker, Tatum & Brown were too much in that game

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

I'm not sold on either of those teams making it to the Finals yet. I do think an LA/LA conference finals would be very entertaining although it would suck watching it from an east coast standpoint.

Sounds like Gordon Hayward. Busts up his ankle where it took ultimately two seasons to return full strength, looks like an All Star starter for the first two weeks including a 39pt game then 8 games in breaks a bone in his hand. Has surgery, returns pretty quick missing just 12 games then has a foot issue not to long after his return. He's played great when he's been on the court but man does he remind of Gronk a bit.

They're saying Cousins might come back this season? Didn't he have an ACL tear?

I would love to see what a Curry/Russell/Klay/Green lineup looks like then use that likely high lottery pick they'll end up with to either draft someone to play the five or trade the pick for one.

That win didn't mean as much not coming against Luka. That kid is already a stud and he's only going to get better with age, hopefully he stays in the West lol.

Yes torn ACL. He travels with the team, sits on bench with a suit on.

    Started light jogging.

Rumor is hopefully ready in April.

I hope I didn't jinx him like stevek.

With Cousins luck in recent years he wouldn't need you to jinx him. If he can make it back and give them anything in the playoffs that could be huge. Big If though.

Loving the Celtics as well - Kemba Walker is a much better fit than Kyrie was. Still weak at the center position, but Brown & Tatum are future all stars, maybe this year as well. A change that impacts fans - stars seem to be resting a handful of games, would be bummed if I was attending and they sat out.

I am a Celtics fan. Feeling pretty good.

I live near Dallas. I follow the Mavs and, as I have talked about before, I have been extremely impressed by Luka Doncic since pre-season of his rookie year. It was immediately obvious that he is a generational talent.

I'd love to see Ainge bring back Aron Baynes. There is talk that the Suns might trade him with the team going nowhere and he's exactly what the C's need. This team really just needs one more big body that can play defense and it doesn't need to be a major move. OKC's Nerlens Noel is another cheap alternative too.

while it is hard for many members to accept the Lakers and Lebron James, I suggest you swallow hard and get used to it. B)

    ^ THIS

They just easily beat the team with the third best record since December (OKC) with their subs. LeBron, AD, and Danny Green were all out.

btw it was the second game of a back to back on the road.

He's only been back from injury just 3 games but he's already in his previous All-Star form. He basically just threw most of the roster under the bus last night after the Nets loss to Philly.
"Collectively, I feel like we have great pieces, but it's pretty glaring we need one more piece or two more pieces that will complement myself, [Kevin Durant], DJ, GT, Spence [Dinwiddie], Caris [LeVert], and we'll see how that evolves."
No mention of Joe Harris, one of the best 3pt shooters in the NBA, or Jarrett Allen, who already puts up DeAndre Jordan-esque stats at 1/4th the price. I kind of felt bad for Nets fans after their owner/gm traded away their future years ago for aging past their prime Celtics players but this time I won't not after spending 400M on Kyrie,Durant & DAJ. I put the over/under for their total games played together healthy over these four years at under 100 games(out of a possible 328.)

Just came across a pretty crazy star involving tonight's Celtics-Lakers game, Kemba Walker has played LeBron 28 times in his career(all with the Hornets) and his team lost every single game. Hopefully Walker plays tonight,Brown too.

i assume you watched the game? LeBron & AD combined for 24??? i see Davis with '5' in the PF column, but still?

For me, the Bucks are missing something. I realize that Giannis is all universe in the regular season, but the playoffs are a different animal. Not sure who comes out of the east, but I don't think it will be Milwaukee.

    I did and loved every minute of it especially after how the C's have played since I started this thread(losing 6 of 9 going into this game.}
This was only the 6th game where Boston has had a healthy Kemba,Tatum,Brown,Hayward,Theis,Kanter & Smart all in the lineup so this win should be huge for their confidence going forward.
As for AD,I don't know what his total minutes came to but he definitely didn't have an AD-type game which was weird because LA's bigs started the game throwing down numerous alley-oops while making it difficult for Boston in the paint blocking everything. Looked like it was gonna be a long night but they battled thru it though.

I think we're all still waiting for that signature moment from Giannis in the playoffs where he just enforces his will and carries the team on his back like we've seen players like MJ,Lebron & Kawhi all do multiple times. I will say this though after watching the Bucks beat the C's just in the past week,Giannis has an insane supporting cast right now. He doesn't have that 2nd star like Lebron has AD but he's got two 7ft's in the Lopez bros that get it done on both ends and his array of 3pt shooters around him is just crazy. Middleton,Bledsoe,Hill,Korver,Ilyasova,Mathews & DiVencenzo.
Imho Milwaukee is the clear cut favorite to win it all right now. The Lakers aren't as deep and the Clippers are still trying to really get going as a team. It will be interesting to see which contenders go and make a move by the deadline to add more pieces.

  • JRR300JRR300 Posts: 1,369 ✭✭✭✭

Celtics don't have the height to deal with Giannis. Toronto's defense gave them all types of problems last year. I know they don't have Leonard, but their defense is excellent. The Sixers match up well with the Bucks; their height creates a different problem and their length on the perimeter as well. Moves at the trade deadline will bolster one or more of these teams, so just have to wait and see what happens.
