What is a Hauser and/or Wurzbach # ?
I have a couple of Franz Joseph medals attributed with Hauser and Wurzbach #'s. (Hauser-2806, Wurzbach-2696)
Are those reference books? I can't seem to find any references to the references. Any help appreciated.

I hadn't heard of them before, but speak some German, and it seems Hauser might refer to this catalog of the Bavarian state collection in Munich from 1905. Being that old, it's entirely online. Full title: "Die Münzen und Medaillen der im Jahre 1156 gegründeten (seit 1255) Haupt- und Residenzstadt München mit Einreihung jener Stücke, welche hierauf Bezug haben" by Josef Hauser.
Wurzbach is harder to find.. I'm seeing people referring to Wurzbach numbers like you mention, but not finding a source book. It's a small village in eastern Germany, so I doubt it's similarly the name of a collection?
My wantlist & references
Thanks so much!!
These medals are outside of my focus, but I looked through some medallic bibliographies to see what I could find.
For Hauser, in addition to the book that spoon posted, there is also a recent two-volume work "Katalog meiner Sammlung von Medaillen, Plaketten und Jetons aus der Regierungszeit der Kaiser Ferdinand I. und Franz Josef I." by Peter Hauser. According to https://facultas.at/list/9783850284240, it catalogs some 8,300 items in the collection.
For Wurzbach, there is a two-volume work "Katalog meiner Sammlung von Medaillen, Plaketten und Jetons zugleich ein Handbuch für Sammler" by Wolfgang von Wurzbach-Tannenberg, published in 1943 and reprinted in 1979. It is catalogs about 10,000 items (including books) from the author's collection.
