Need advice - PSA graded Bart Starr 2000 UD Legends Autograph card

I just won this auction and for some reason I started doing some digging after I won it rather than before.

The card is graded and slabbed by PSA with a valid cert number.

Here is the thing, this is the third auction of this card in the last 12 months...but the suspicious thing...is all 3 sellers of this card are listed or have items listed as being in Hawaii! Some of their items say California, but they also have listings under their individual user names that say ships from Hawaii. All do have 100% positive feedback - but for 3 people to have this card with connections to Hawaii...oh and they all follow eachother too I can see through the ebay user page.

That alone is really weird to me.

The PSA cert was not a DNA authentication, just the card grade. However, this particular card was only available as an autograph insert with the language on the back saying that Upper Deck received the card directly from Bart and it is hand numbered 16 of 25.

So....I'm kind of nervous here. The fact that PSA graded the card should tell me that card atleast is legit, right? And if the card is genuine and it was only available as an autograph, the signature should be legit. Right? I've read about rampant 2001 UD and some 1997 UD autograph fakes in their Legend issue, but never saw anything specific to the 2000 issue. Do I have cause for concern here?

I'm an old collector who just recently got a bug to get back into things. I normally just buy vintage, for some reason this one appealed to me.

Any advice?

    Welcome to the forum.

Please share pics or links to pics from the auction.

You may be over paranoid here.

Here is the PSA cert page showing the past sales. Listings can no longer be found on ebay's site

I don't see anything to really be concerned about at all.

    Except for this part.....

Right. So it makes me wonder: 1) are all 3 sellers the same person - what are the odds it would change hands 3 times all with buyers and sellers having active or sold listings located in Hawaii 2) is it possible the card could be fake and PSA would've missed that?

I could send it in for DNA authentication although the backlog for me to get it back might be so long I couldn't open a claim if there's an issue.

Here is another copy 24/25 on Ebay right now. If your copy is a fake, then it's a darn good fake.

    Thanks for the comments.

I wish I hadn't discovered the potentially odd sales history of it.

I should go with my original assumption, which was, these particular cards were only available autographed...25 of them to be exact. So if PSA deemed the card legit then the autograph must be legit as well.

Let us know when the card is shipped. I think you don't have anything to worry about.

The seller of that card is also an Ebay top rated seller.

I may've just gotten a little too paranoid about stories of blank cards leaving card manufacturer's back door and fake autographs.

I will update when I receive it.

Yes, please update when you receive it. I have been paranoid many times myself, so I know how you feel. I think you're OK on this one. ;)

Strange, the seller says it was his Dad's card who has passed away...no mention of it being auctioned twice in 2019.

I guess all you can do is wait and see if the card is shipped to you. If it isn't, then open a complaint, but I hope everything works out for you. The seller seems to have a solid record, and the card appears to be authentic. Please keep us updated on the situation.

Keep a check on the Ebay shipping status , and let us know when it says that the card has been shipped.

The card came. Everything looks fine.

When I first asked the seller about the history of the card, he said it was his Dad's and his Dad has passed. After I got the card I asked about it being on ebay twice last year. He said yes he tried to sell it twice last year, once was a nonpayment and once the seller asked to have it canceled. But according to PSA's certification history of sales; his ebay user id wasn't the seller for either auction. I suppose he was pulling some shenanigans with more than one seller id and had friends play shills and up the bid and got stuck with it. Suspicious history, but I don't see anything suspicious about the card.

    Thanks for listening to me.

My main concern was the seller shipping the card to you. I believe the card to be 100% authentic. I was just worried about the seller not shipping the card. I'm glad everything worked out.
