Even when looking at coinfacts I cannot seem to find where the doubling is on the 1968 D ddr. So, when I was checking mine I found this one. I have not seen machine doubling that looks like this. So is it just MD or something else? It is most prominent on "ONE' and "RICA". My apologies on pics. I used angles and finger to create the right light to help expose the letters in question.

The die is wearing down. Some reliefs and letters are starting to get (if not already) mushy.
MD but there was a term to add but my brain is in a post-Christmas fog.

Mechanical doubling and/or Die deterioration doubling. Read about on www.doubleddie.com Click on the "Worthless Doubling" tab
I figured as much. I just never seen it so dramatic before. I will still need to study up on the actual 68 D ddr.
