Looking for info on a book about the baseball HOF

Shot in the dark here but maybe somebody can help...

When I was a kid, circa 1981, I got a boxed set of books. 3 books, maybe 4, that came together in a slipcase. They books were mass-market sized paperbacks, roughly 200-250 pages each. One of them was a book on the baseball HOF with info on every player who'd been elected to the Hall up to that point. I wanna say the book had a gold-colored cover. I would guess its name was simply "The Baseball Hall of Fame" but I don't know. No clue on author. As you might imagine, searching for a book with a title that generic is useless.

So...anybody have any idea of the book I'm talking about? Maybe an author or publishing date? Anything?

This is from 1981. It's probably not the one your looking for, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Maybe this one? Purchased from Scholastic Book Club back in the day. It has a somewhat gold colored cover, but is only 122 pages and the copyright is 1983.

The Ken Smith HOF book was probably it. I vaguely seem to recall something similar, maybe the same set you got. I don't think mine survived, but I have obtained a number of books I remember from my Scholastic childhood as well, which would have been roughly in the 77-82 range.

Here are a few I plucked from my book shelf, including a different version of the HOF book. This one has a 1979 copyright date.

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I am pretty certain it wasn't a Scholastic book. Maybe a different version of the Ken Smith book? None of the ones on ebay match my memory though.

Maybe your local library may be able to help you out.
