Ratty but Rare? Seeking info on early Canadian Note

If there is a Basal state for currency, this might not even make that grade....
However, I can't find much on this - Google seems to have very little info or examples of these
early issues. Would appreciate any help from the forum in terms of rarity, collectability, value, etc.

From CanadaCurrency.com, whom I also emailed about this -
Bank Notes from 1836 – 1877:
Simply put, The Bank of British North America just had too many bank note issues from 1836 to 1877 to list in our short guide. Furthermore, good pictures of most bank notes are not readily available. Generally speaking, the least a bank note from this time period would be worth is about $500. Authentic notes in VF or better condition could easily sell for thousands of dollars. All the notes that exist today are true miracles of survival.

I'm certainly not expecting any windfall for this, probably just a research piece at best.
Thanks in advance for your help.

My Pick catalog, Specialized, 12th edition (2013) lists this note as S241d. It's from the first issue for West Canada (1852) and is a slightly better type valued at $300 in good condition. This one might grade good in some collectors' eyes, but some may see it as grading fair or almost good.

Great that you saved it. 1852 in the wilds of Canada must have been interesting. I can't imagine carrying a wad of paper currency back then. Peace Roy
