Mac OS Catalina no longer works with Canon OES Utility
I thought my Canon T2i crapped out but, as it turns out Mac's updated OS Catalina no longer supports 32 bit apps.
I don't understand what happened. I updated my Mac to Catalina month's back and no issue with the software.
Last week there was another update and it stopped recognizing the camera.
And, of course I screwed myself as I never backed up anything and don't have an external drive to do that.
.
To Mac owners this must be old news but for some reason I never checked out if Catalina OS was compatible with my T2i OES.
I've heard you can partition and install a lower OS, one that will have 32 bit apps. Has anyone done this?
How difficult is it to do?
The only software I have on the Mac is Catalina and no backup.....sheez. I should have checked.
.
If anyone can help I would be eternally grateful.

I feel your pain...I boungt a new Mac and found out about the lack of Cannon upgrade. Fortunately I do have a back up and I am now using Helicon remote software. And..I think I like it better than the cannon software.
Good luck on whoever you end up with as there isa lot out there.

So Helicon recognizes the 32bit Canon T2i ?
If that's the case it would be awesome

I have to use Lightroom on my mac to import from my Canon.
The latest versions of EOS Utility, EOS Utility 2, and EOS Utility 3 all report as 64 bit applications on my Mac. I did not update to Catalina, but I assume it is just a 32/64 bit compatibility issue. If you haven't updated in years, you likely just need to download an update.
Of note, it is not the camera that is 32 or 64 bit.

Yes, sorry about that. I have updated to the newest and they only recognize 64bit and
no longer 32 bit apps such as EOS 2 for my CannonT2i

I love my T2i.
Not a MAC user but I feel your pain.
Well, its taken me several days but I have found out that Catalina (most current OS) will not be using
64 bit app's any longer so I had to install "Parallels" Which is a programs that allows you to run 2 different
operating systems. I have the most current OS for Mac and installed the last OS that works with 32 bit Canon software
and it now works. A real heads up to anyone using a Mac and wants to update their software.

Ugh shoulda not updated
Yes, I understand this. You seem to not understand my point that the latest EOS Utility 2 version does indeed show as a 64 bit application. What version of EOS Utility are you using? Please see the attached screenshot from the Applications section in the System Information and note the 64-Bit column all listed as "Yes".
EDIT: I re-read your initial post and it does not sound like an 32/64 bit issue. If it was, then EOS Utility would have stopped worked immediately upon updating to Catalina, not with a later point upgrade. It sounds like a different incompatibility/issue with EOS Utility. I would recommend contacting Canon. Though they are likely already aware of the issue and working on a fix.
You were warned!
My software for my Nikon shooting in raw mode seems to have not missed a beat in Catalina when opening the NEF files in Nikon's Camera Raw 12.1. When opening in Camera Raw, they can then be transferred directly into PS. Maybe there are updates for Canon software you can get?

I don’t know a thing about Macs and I hope that never changes. On my PC I had to download a new version of the Canon software after upgrading to a new computer. The newer version of software seems to be working fine. There are a few little differences, but nothing major.
As others have said, contact Canon and see what they recommend.
