anyone here mess around on DraftKings?

i joined about a year ago primarily for golf tournaments, but i've been playing weekly H2H fantasy matchups during the NFL season as well. i'm getting bored with beating the brakes off people i don't know, so i thought i'd look for a victim here. >:)

but in all seriousness, i thought it would be fun to play someone i "know." not at all looking to break the bank -- $3, $5 or $10 is what i had in mind. primarily for funsies. but let's face it, the public shaming element would also be involved and there is definitely some value there for the winner. if anyone wants to rumble, hit me up!

Hey buddy, I have been doing DraftKings for a few years now. I rarely win but send me a invite to a contest if you want. “Perkdog237” is my handle

sweet! i've never entered a private contest with someone i know, but i think i pulled it off. you should have received an invite on your end. i'm balatarama (a golf reference).

i chose a $5 entry and included all 16 games running from Thu-Mon. hope that works for you. if not, we can always play again next week and tweak the rules if need be.

now, let me see if i can help out with that rarely problem of yours lol

I never touch Thursday games, too many times I select a guy and he ranks. Going into Sunday with a bum pick takes the wind out of my sails 😩 I did have Jax going on one of my fantasy playoff teams though 👍👍

Fantasy sports company and bookmaker DraftKings to become public company.

sorry dude, i've been off the CU grid. any time you want to tangle just send me an invite!

i must warn you, i've been running well in the land of fantasy the past few years. each season i play in two CU-linked leagues -- one a 12-teamer and one a 14. i won both last season and came within an egregious mistake of doing the same this year. had i not dropped DeAndre Washington a week or so ago (i thought Josh Jacobs would finish the season out), i would have gone back-to-back in both.

but then again, a regression toward the mean is definitely overdue, so now might be the time to lock horns with me. B)

(pretty self-explanatory, but fire away if you have any questions on the format)

From my experience (around 4 years or so) I have found that playing the 50/50's and the double ups in the contest type section are more to my favor.
Simply put your not betting against 10 to 20 thousand plus people.
You can pick smaller opponent groups in the above contest types.

Cannot wait for sports to pick up again....

It could take care of the deposit side, but would create a mess for cashing out with a significant enough win to require tax documents. It's a nightmare with one of my online poker sites after I was able to deposit using a Euro proxy server (including a call from their security department shortly after my deposit and reversal of the transaction within a day).

i was trying to pull up your squad to see who you had on your team so i could keep up with those guys. seems like it should be so simple to do, especially considering there's a 'find a rival' search box. but nothing comes up when i input your user. and i could've sworn that at one time the entire leaderboard was accessible, but now i can only go down to 500

my best team heading into the weekend for the 15k is 1510 out of 71343

i'm also going H2H for $5 and $10, and these will (in all likelihood) be winners

oh how i've missed the extra somethin somethin that DK brings to golf tournaments

We're all rooting for everyone to win in the hopes they will start a contest.

Please win and start a contest for anything. I'll take first prize as a 1965 clad dime in VG condition and be happy.

  • galaxy27galaxy27 Posts: 7,848 ✭✭✭✭✭

i'd imagine monday morning coffee doesn't taste quite the same when you pick the guy who wins the tournament......yet still lose. :p

@stevek ... do you ever spearhead said contests or do you just clamor for one from the peanut gallery? i'd conjure one up, but you do realize my sport is the only one that has relaunched, correct?

my suggestion is for some peeps on here to open up a DK account and we'll play a weekly group fantasy game when football season rolls around. it doesn't have to be for much -- as can be seen, i'm not exactly breaking the bank. i play strictly for fun, and it is just that......fun. but i'm not even gonna lie.....it's a lot more fun when you're winning. :D

honestly, i told myself that if i came in first in the 15k that perk and i played this past weekend, i was going to take $250 out of the $750 i won and create some sort of contest on here. but there is only one small problem.......my best team won $1.50. 🤑

i did find a dime on the ground on my way to work this morning......wanna play for it?

@stevek ... do you ever spearhead said contests or do you just clamor for one from the peanut gallery?

I've run i think three contests on here. One had a top $500 prize if i'm remembering right, but they all had at least $100.

So yes, i walk the walk.

I don't recall ever paying out on one because they were props which to me made it more interesting. I think i recall one was what day the Phillies would clinch the NL East or something like that, pick the day. One guy missed it by a day or he would have received a nice PayPal gift.

I'll do another one in the future if i'm in the mood. As you know there's a bit of work involved in keeping track of everything, and i just haven't felt like doing that at this time.

    i like it.

i was thinking today.........perhaps we should do a season-long pick'em in the NFL. not against the spread, just straight up. it may sound easy simply picking the winner of each game, but it's trickier than one might think.

Oh yea, it sure is tricky. Take teasers for example of just how tricky it is. I think probably most sports bettors when they first hear about teasers, it seems like a license to print money. Well they soon find out that yes it is a license to print money...for the sports bookies.

Here is one contest i offered over a decade ago when the Phillies were a premier team. Pasted, three posts at different dates:

Guess the correct day the Phillies clinch the NL East and win $100. All predictions must be in by the end of April. No edits, even if done before the end of April. Contest restricted to those with over 500 CU forum posts as of the day of the prediction, otherwise the prediction is void as far as the contest is concerned. First prediction of the correct day for anyone with over 500 posts is the winner. Remember, it's the day the Phillies clinch, which could be because of another team losing, not necessarily on a day the Phillies play.

The winner can then guess the correct day the Phillies win the NL pennant and the total prize amount will be $250. That prediction needs to be made before the first playoff game.

The winner can then guess the correct day the Phillies win the World Series and the total prize amount will be $500. That prediction needs to be made before the first World Series game.

Winner will be paid through PayPal, no other way - you must have a PayPal account.

    Good luck!

Still 4 guys with a shot...

    perkdog: September 21st

    1420sports: September 23rd

    mercurynut: Sept 28th

    baseballfan: september 29

Well, the Phillies won the NL East on September 27 and there were no predictions of this date, so sorry to say there is no winner. Mercurynut was closest, missing by one day.

Frankly it's hard for me to believe that nobody chose the date of September 27 which was one day before the end of the season, when before the season began "everybody" was predicting a close, tight race to the end. Oh well, I tried to put together an interesting contest...sorry again that nobody won.

It’s the achievement level (4) next achievement level would be (5) and more crown rewards

thanks @perkdog........but i'm still as confused as i was prior to asking the question

take this one, for instance........it's a 5k crowner and it has achievement level one showing

    i don't get it....

edit: my achievement level is 32, for what that's worth. no clue how that plays into this

The "gray circle" is shaped like a racing oval. Perhaps it signifies a race of sorts to get to a certain monetary destination in which the number inside the oval of course representing the achievement level as noted.

  • galaxy27galaxy27 Posts: 7,848 ✭✭✭✭✭

are you saying new milestones unlock with every achievement level reached? if so, that makes sense. but what i don't understand is why i'm on level 32, yet i don't see an achievement level reward higher than a 4

Oh i have no idea how Draftkings works or whatever this is. Never played it.

I was just responding to the basic question of "what is the significance of the gray circle with the number 4 inside?"

Frankly we're all rooting for ya to win a small fortune or even a large fortune. And we would never ask that maybe if ya win ten dimes or more, to throw the forum a nice $100 contest bone. 😉

ok i figured it out. i think. there is no correlation between your own personal achievement level and the milestone rewards. so apparently i have reached the birdie machine milestone 3 times in the past, and now i'm on level 4

edit: i think that's what perkdog unsuccessfully tried to get thru my skull
