Would NBA players respect a female head coach as much as a male one?

I think that the first woman NBA head coach (and a woman head coach in any other professional men's sports league) will face substantial resistance from players and others, including a lack of respect.
As more and more women get head coaching jobs and as time passes it will become easier.
Probably similar to women astronauts, women fighter pilots, women enrolling at the service academies, the first black students to attend white K-12 public schools and white colleges in the 1950's and 1960's etc.
If they are good. Sure. It would take a little while but if a team is winning and the coach shows leadership it will be all good.
Most of the women involved in top college and pro men's leagues are in broadcasting. A few are on the sidelines. One can quickly find the talent. I am a fan of Amy Lawrence on late night talk radio and I don't recall her name but a lady that does Pac12 television play by play is outstanding.
No reason that a woman can't call the X' and O' at the pro level, particlarly in basketball many many are experienced at the college level.
Better question; What's greater, zero or zero?
Joe, 'splain please.

The correct answer is "No".
coaches are not required for basketball , put a scarecrow up at the end of the bench
This guy coached the Bulls in the 90s and later went on to coach the Lakers.
It’s unfortunate, but I feel it would be difficult
I follow the Minnesota Timberwolves a bit, not a big basketball fan though.
My opinion of the modern sports player and especially basketball players is that the players mostly run the teams and there is not much (if any) respect for the coaches.
Seems to me KG ran the team to a large extent for a long time. Kevin Love had his problems and Jimmy Butler was a disaster too. I could go on and on.
Most NBA players don't even respect their male head coaches.
Perhaps some exceptions for a few NBA head coaches but not too many.

Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Steve Kerr are respected. Any others?
Pop might be the most respected of all

Who coaches the Lakers now? Does he run the team or is James the guy really running LA?
Every personnel decision is run through James.
James, I think wanted Tyrone Lue to coach the Lakers, but he didn't get his way.
I've watched every game, he seems to listen to the present coach. He completely tuned out Luke Walton.
I'm sorry, but this comment still has my gut hurting from laughter. The 1992 Olympic dream team coach...
I thought about Larry Brown, a superb head coach, and how he had constant battles with Allen Iverson.
Iverson's infamous "practice" press conference was a direct diss at Larry Brown who only tried to make Allen Iverson a better team basketball player.
That rant is second only to Lasorda's rant on Kingman hitting 3 homers.
Funny, the clam chowdah boys haven't popped in with Auerbach.

Some things are sacred from the liberal people’s unknowing self induced death wish MO. This is one. There is no valid reason why a pro male player would have to take such a thing. Screw that 100%.
