Gustav III Ascends to Heaven

Attended a local coin show on Sunday, looking for horse blankets. I was not expecting much, but to my surprise, came across this dynamic, high relief Swedish medal. Not one of my areas of collecting, but the medal was exceptional. Fehrman Fecit.

Very cool! If I did my Roman Numeral conversion correctly...1792?
Correct. Assassinated in 1792, though it was the sepsis that ultimately killed him.

Very nice and interesting item which I would like to have in hand.
The assumption that he went to Heaven is puzzling.
Only the Maker knows...
Well he's going somewhere. I guess the funeral pyre worked! Peace Roy

Interesting coin, trying to do research on it. Your post was one of the only threads I found when looking up info for this coin.
I know it is an old thread though....
Seller listed this XF, opinions?
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for first loving us.
Better than XF or high end XF, but for the scratches. XF+? The subject matter is interesting, but I could find only a vague reference to its existence online. If the price is right, a worthy acquisition, I suppose.
