1979 CLAD QUARTER
I see this quarter sold for $550 last night on Teletrade with the $55.00 buyers fee and $10.75 shipping charges the TOTAL is $615.00 whoever purchased sure goofed as a very prominent dealer has one on his website for $450.00 shipping included. This is definately an uninformed bidder and a case of TELETRADE BIDITIS.

I seriously doubt DHRC bids on Teletrade
Some collector wanted this coin and paid the price. I remember when a certain bidder was also laughed at a couple years ago when he bid the "outrageous" price of nearly $1000 for a 1969(p) Quarter in PCGS-MS67. I sure wish I was that "stupid" Teletrader on that 1969! Wondercoin.
I am sure as a dealer you love to see these prices. They have been off the wall lately. The 1977D went for almost $500 tonight. We both bid and lost to the owner of this thread. So was he the bidder at $615? Possibly starting to question whether his spending will get him anywhere.
Frankly, I like a cleaner coin than the 79 that was on Teletrade.
These words hardly translate to "smart investment" or "bad investment".
On your other point. I decided to back off the 77(d) quarter because the author of this thread is a very good customer of mine and I also consider him a friend.
A little over a year ago, I owned the #1 MS PCGS Clad quarter set in the country (never registered of course). I decided to let the set go in order to concentrate on the silver quarters only. Wondercoin.
To answer your question no I did not bid $615 for the 79-P on Teletrade first of all I already have that coin and at Pop 16 it is not worth that much.I did put a max bid of $600 on the 77-D on ebay and expected to get outbid and was pleasantly suprised when it ended at less than $500 which I consider a bargain for a Pop 7 coin.

of planchet scratches visible on the obverse. This kills it for me really. Also
the reverse strike has some major weakness and is only in about the 95th
%ile. No doubt, the new owner bought it for the obverse strike, it is virtual-
ly unimprovable. It also was within the first 20 strikes of a new die. The coin
was from a mint set. Nicely struck obverses are very elusive on the '79-"P".
There's a 69-"P" in 67!?! $1000. sounds cheap. I'd want to see it first though.
Shortly after placing my couple preliminary bids for the coin, days before the auction ended, I got a messsage from Ed that he needed the coin for his set and intended to bid for the coin at the end. As I mentioned, Ed is a good customer and I lost interest in "butting heads" with him on this coin. I would happily pay Ed $610 for the coin right now if he wanted to sell it for a nice profit. And, if he wants to keep his coin, my offer would be good for anyone out there that has a decent 77(d) in MS67 available for sale- just PM me Wondercoin.
