Identify this arabic silver coin?

The carboard holder says "Iran, 1400's, Silver". Does anyone know what this coin is? Thanks!

Since no-one else has commented, I will offer my observations.

There is a clearly visible date on the coin, which should help narrow down things a lot: "829", which would be roughly AD 1426. So they seem to have the "1400s" correct. However, coins of Iran in AH 829 tended to look more like these on zeno.ru, from the Timurid dynasty that then ruled Iran: somewhat cruder in design and script, and more often than not using a square design motif on one side. So "Iran" can probably be ruled out.

Looking further afield in that year, The Mamluks who ruled Egypt and Syria were making coins like these, similar in design but again much cruder in style.

Over in India, the 1400s were somewhat of a dark age; the once-powerful Sultanate of Dehli was breaking up; the only piece wealthy enough to issue abundant silver coins was the Sultanate of Bengal, and Bengali coins are quite distinctive and look nothing like your coin.

Meanwhile in central Asia, the sudden rise and equally sudden collapse of Timurid power had caused chaos throughout the region, and few nations were in a position to issue fine silver coinage. The coins of the rapidly rising Ottoman Empire, in this pre-conquest-of-Constantinople period, tended to be small and simple in design.

It ought to be easier than this to identify, but it's not. Sorry.

Great responses. Identifying Islamic dynasty coins is a real challenge for non-expert numismatists. It’s a rich, fascinating collecting area if one can overcome the intimidation factor however!
