I recently came across some wheat cents, and when I opened them I noticed the toning. My question is, is this toning artificially made or does this occur with the steel cents?

I've seen this too from rolls that were in long-time storage.
very neat, beautiful colors all through the roll
Takes awhile to load but plenty of CoinFacts pics and some with toning.

I hope its real because it looks great.
Edit: the color came out better on the phone.
They are all this color, it’s awesome!
Now get those things into holders before the air turns the zinc.
I agree with @JBK Their AU state is tenuous if not protected from environmental conditions. 2x2's or plastic coin snaps as soon as possible. Nice find. Peace Roy

Are you sending any for entombing, might be beneficial, but you’ll have be the judge of the expenses vs. any potential gain in their preservation.
Thank you!
what do you guys suggest?
i could send in maybe 3 and test the waters with them, they are beautiful coins on sight.
my other concern is if the toning will disappear if PCGS decides to restore the coin.
i dont really know how that works.
I think you may be able to sell them as is
on eBay.
That way you could save grading fees just in case the TPGs think they are "enhanced." (I don't think they are.)
I think you could get 10-20 buck a pop for them if you piece them out.
IMHO, these have been doctored....maybe baked in an oven?
Doctored.
Really, just shake and bake, would turn it.
What a steal.
One thing I've seen as a coin is subjected to air from a roll and you see a slight tone, let it breath about 2-3 hours
at room temp (lol) it just might show you its true colors. Then bag it and tag it.
