I recently purchased a 600 count box of 80's cards at an estate sale and found these raw beauties inside. The best $5 I have ever spent!

Thanks. i was amazed. My cheap Ipad does not do the cards justice. The Molitor has the infamous smudge and the Smith is the usual off center. But, they are all sharp especially the Henderson and Mattingly cards.
Wow, awesome gets!

Great pickup. I picked these up this weekend also at an estate sale for $5 as well. You got me beat though.
Nice find, some classic 80’s HOFERS!
Thanks.

@pab1969 Wow no Ripken Jr.. Kinda odd.
I know. I was hoping for the 1982 traded.
Great pickups guys! How many of these estate sales do you attend before you find something of value?
The only estate sale I've ever been to was my grandma's in 2001. It was a combination of several estates together at the dealer's auction place. Any of the random boxes of baseball cards were fetching much higher amounts than the junk inside was worth. Now maybe, just maybe, there were gems like the ones above lurking inside, I have no idea.

I frequent estate sales often. I always go to ones I find advertised locally (via CL, IG, FB, newspaper) that are put on by the owners. Cheaper prices usually and less games. By games, I mean some of my local dealers will jack up prices, buy it for pennies on the dollar from the owners when unsold and then sell it in their B&M or online. When I go to sales (yard/garage/estate) I always ask about other items. You never know. Remember once a guy took me to the back yard and pulled out a railroad crossbuck sign. Sure, I'll buy that! Love when I'm at a yard sale and next thing you know I'm in their house picking. Love it!
I suggest signing up at estatesales.org so you can research local ones before wasting time/gas.
I've been to at least 50+ estate sales. Never really found a good card deal. But always leave with a pile as I expanded my want list. Have found steals on old signs, oil cans, furniture, vintage clothing etc.
Since I retired I have been attending estate sales very often. Sports memorabilia (cards, autos, yearbooks, etc.) does not come around often but when it does I have been very lucky. I picked up quality stuff for cheap. I also go after other stuff of interest such as records, military, comics, etc. I keep what I collect and then sell the rest. You would be surprised how much you can profit from these sales. Locally I use estatesales.net to find sales near me.
Some companies are better than others when it comes to estate sales. Some use eBay as a guide to pricing. I had a guy try to sell me a comic using full ebay sold price plus shipping. I could not understand how was he charging me shipping when I am speaking to him with the comic in my hand. Needless to say I left the comic and the sale. I prefer the companies who have limited knowledge when it comes to sports memorabilia. You should give it another try, it is addicting. Garage sales are another monster.
Nice finds for $5.
