1974 virgin Island 5 cent weight ~3.5g

KkathylKkathyl Posts: 3,762 ✭✭✭✭✭

I am not sure weights of silver proof sets but cannot confirm that this coin is from a set or is wrong planchet.

Trying to confirm KM#
KM2 weight is 3g and copper nickel circulated
KM10 weight 3.55 and .925 silver but starts 1977 so that’s my dilemma

If anyone has a 1974 set and can confirm weight would appreciate greatly

Thanks,
Kathy

If you have access to someone who has a handheld XRF gun (LCS, Gold buyer, jeweler) , you could have the answer very quickly. Sorry, can't offer other help as I don't know anything about this series. Krause has been known to publish incorrect info. Not saying this is the case, but keep it in mind.

Great input. I will see if I have another Proof in that range.
Best answer would be it was wrong planchet 😎

The coin looks like an impaired Proof.
