My best friend has wanted to go through his collection he had as a child for some time, part of it was his brother’s. I gave them the typical answer that many during our collecting days as a kid are not worth much. He said that he remembered that many were older and many were given by his grandfather. About a year ago we ventured to his parents house to take a look. All we found were some modern cards and he said there were others that seem to have disappeared. Fast forward to a few days ago and we go through the house at his request after his father passed away. We found some more albums in his storage and a familiar case which he remembered having. You can tell the abum was picked through, but there still were a few decent cards remaining. In addition to what was shown in the album there is a Rose rookie in poor shape with writing/erasing on the front and quite a few 55 Bowman commons.

After going through the cards they told me of a game used jersey that his father received as a gift from a friend. That friend was Jay Ritchie. If you don't know Jay was a pitcher with Boston, Atlanta and Cincinatt. He got the jersey when he pitched for the Braves from 1966 to 1967. Jay is from Granite Quarry, NC where my friend's dad was a coach for the local HS team and even led them to a State Championship. Him and Jay became good friends and Jay even came to help with batting practice for the team.

The jersey that he received wasn't one of him, but number 41 for the Braves...none other than Mr Eddie Mathews! Jay got it from 1Eddie in the clubhouse from Eddie as he did not want it anymore.

I have contacted an auction house, but some of the family don't want to sell the jersey just yet.
