I saw this in a local auction, wasn't sure about authenticity. Tell me what you think. Thanks!

Gonna go with Not Authentic, At first glance the rims give me the feeling of a Jewelry Piece, but that reverse 😟

    Fake.

T in STATES. Stars are cut crooked, obv and rev. Dentils are wrong. Roughly similar to 1800 BD-4, but definitely fake.

IMO, probably real, probably boinked but I want to give some leeway to poor photography. I have a suspicion that the reverse motto had been reengraved (the post-mint type) to remove the two cuds this variety has in later states.

Raw US gold from 1800? There is probably a reason why it isn't slabbed.

That is what I was thinking, just too much looked wrong with this coin. It ended up selling for $6500 + the 13% vig.

Assuming its real it still isn't worth more than half of the selling price.

Hard to tell if fake or real. Definitely a problem coin, ex-jewelry most likely. Here's my "real" BD-2 example for comparison:

Oh, now that's nice! If that other coin looked anything close to this nice, I might have bid, even though I couldn't afford it. :D
