Obscuring the Cert Nunber

Why do some people cover the cert number when posting a picture of their coin? I can’t think of a good reason.

    Maybe they have it in their registry and do not want to reveal their forum nic-name with their registry name.

    Or, they have not added to their registry, yet, and do not want someone else use the cert number. It’s a slight headache to get your cert# back once someone else uses it.

    Or, do not want people to try and research sold auctions to find the value or sale history.

    Or, it’s a fake slab/number.

    Or, ...

    Oh, got it. I don’t participate in the registry so I was unaware of those issues.

    The registry (here or ATS) can be quite a beast. Especially, when the annual awards come around.
