What is going on with the distribution of the W quarters this year.

Did the mint do this to move the 2018 quarters they over produced and get them out in circulation? supposedly they were going to be putting them out in 33 cities from a list they made but I go through from 12 to 16 boxes a week and have only seen the 1st W appear in Albuquerque. The last 2 months I have gotten only old quarters and mostly 2018 new quarters from them. Something smells about this whole thing.

Not sure there Steve -- I have yet to see even a 2019 quarter way up north here in AK. I would hope the Mint would find a more "fair" means of mixing them into new batches than sprinkling them atop the ballistic bags (where they could be skimmed off easily).

Yes, they screwed the pooch on this one.
As usual the common ordinary collector got the messy end of the stick.
When I see someone that has sold 51 rolls of Lowell W's I know what happened.

W coins were obviously minted at a different facility than the P or D coins. They were packaged separately to the Fed branch banks who distributes all circulating coinage. Fed branch banks were instructed to "sprinkle" them into the rolling machine during rolling process. The rolls I have searched of the new P coins indicate a fairly consistent "sprinkling."

Then you know that if he didn't work at the mint or at a fed branch bank, he worked pretty hard hussling around town acquiring and disposing of bank rolls. lol

I have come across a couple of Lowell's, a few Guam War in the Pacific, and over a dozen American Samoa W quarters. I live in the Central Valley of California. However, I was shocked that I found that many to be honest.

Yes he has sold 52 rolls so far with at least 5 ( at least ) more to sell. Thats 2280 coins that have been sprinkled in.

likely works for one of the armored carriers, or god forbid, one of the fed branch banks. That's at least 52 boxes of nothing but new coins, a very rare (if not impossible) find for the guy on the street.

Does the US Mint sales office HQ in Washington D.C still have the vending machine where you can get new quarters at face value and if so any luck on W quarters.

The same also do they bring it to shows they attend..

Hard to make money on these quarters unless you find them yourself. If you pay more than $4.00 each ebay and PayPal will wipe out your profit.
