How to sell coins

I am liquidating a coin collection for a widow friend.

Comments

  • Right now, I would like to get info on how to post a notebook with about 170 coins. Barber dimes (75), Roosevelt dimes(38), indian nickels(19), and buffalo nickels (25) and wheat pennies(20)(1921-1937).
    How do I start?

  • I also have maybe 40 rolls of wheat pennies.

Purchase a Red Book or check out at the library.

Check for key and semi key dates for all of the series first.

Use PCGS grading page (photograde) and price guide as references.

Find a local coin club and attend a meeting. Don't try to sell at the first meeting.

If you sell to dealer/pawn broker/ebay, expect to receive 50% of value. Be aware that shipping and insurance costs money too.

Post pictures (NOT in the buy/sell/trade forum) and members will help you.

Don't forget to check all coins for errors/varieties.
