Any Planchet experts out there?

I was going thru a bag of coin star rejects my wife brought home a couple months ago. Found this, what I think is a copper planchet. I'm sorry, but my scale is out in the shop right now but I will weigh it tomorrow. Its a tad thinner than a regular cent and just a tad smaller. I'm wondering if it just might be a worn cent planchet or possible a foreign planchet. I will get more info tomorrow when I get my calipers and scale out.

Ok, ran and got scale. Calipers are dead though. Lol Scale fluctuated between 2.48 - 2.49 grams. Settling in at 2.50 grams

I’m not saying that this is what it is, but it could be. The “penny coin blank” is the cent planchet.

The weight is right. Looks like a Type 2 copper plated zinc planchet to me
Yea, I'm thinking that's exactly what it is after weighing it. Not really worth much but I thought it was a cool find!

Is there a raised area with a crack from the rim in the first image? If so, I haven't seen anything like it. Send it to PCGS.
@FredWeinberg
Pretty sure that is just a stain on the surface. Even with a crack or a lamination, IMHO there is no reason to get it slabbed.

P.S.: I agree that it is a zinc cent planchet based on the weight, cool find "in the wild".

Thanks. I couldn't imagine how a planchet could have a raised die break!!!
No need to send a $1 value cent planchet to any service, imo.
It's stained, lightly circulated, copper-coated zinc cent......
Yep, has a stain on it. Definately know need to send anywhere except in my pile of cool finds. Lol

Valuable or not. If you found it in circulation (or a roll) that is a big find. I've never found a blank in a few hundred thousand of coins searched.
