Not really OT to eulogize Ginger Baker in the sports forum.

It takes a certain conditioning as well as finesse and athleticism to properly play the drums for a 90 or 120 minute rock and roll set. Especially true in the tight and smoky confines of a Fillmore East type setting.

In order of greatness.

Max Roach -- Jazz
Buddy Rich -- Big band
Ginger Baker -- rock and roll.

80 years old, RIP.

I saw Cream at Brandeis university in the 60s. They raised the roof. Truly one of the greatest.

Cream did get together again at least one more time after that, in 2005, the video is on Youtube.

Great band, certainly one of the best of all time. Ginger Baker actually formed Cream, and what guitarist wouldn't want to play with a drummer of that outstanding quality.

    RIP

Ginger can play Jazz while Levon Helms plays rock on the drums. Larry Junstrom bass player for Skynard joined the band today too.
