Really nice cameo contrast. Really unfortunate backstory.
This coin was part of a 4 coin proof set bought directly from the MInt in 1901. The family it belonged to kept it in a safety deposit box for the better part of 110 years. They would occasionally get it out at Christmas and bring it home to share with the family.
About 8 years ago, they brought it home for Christmas and THE NEW PUPPY (!) got a hold of the coins while the family was seated at dinner. As a result, there are puppy teeth marks on the coin [see photos]
It is still a nice looking coin with great cameo contrast. Unfortunately there is a tooth gauge under Liberty's eye as well as below "God" on the reverse and on the Eagle's head. A few light marks as well, but those are the ones that probably yielded the "damage" grade.
Only 140 made with an estimated survivorship of 80-100. About as nice a proof lib as you will find at this price. Mirrors run to 3 inches at least.

Nice coin. Bad Dog! I hope the other 3 coins escaped.
Less obvious damage.
