This forum has become increasingly peculiar.
Guess youre not a braves fan?
I was for the Braves, but you can't put that loss on Acuna. Your pitching gave up the runs. Most anytime you give up 7 runs you are going to get a big fat "L".
I can put it on him and so is everyone else. Sure, the bullpen didnt help. But they never do, which is all the more reason to hustle. He got caught stealing in the 1st and would have scored two batters later and would have scored there in the 7th if he was on 2nd.
They lost by 1 run. It’s on him.
So I guess I pretty much acunaed my way through high school.
I certainly did!
one time i went to the movies with a chick who had it going on and during the flick i felt innocuous flatulence brewing. nope. i acunaed in my pantalones.
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Your argument is missing the Carlos Martinez effect. The Braves came up in the ninth down 4, so Martinez gave up 3 runs before he started trying. Had they come up down 3, Martinez would have given up 2. Had they come up down 2, Martinez would have given up 1. It's not every game, but it's happened so often I expect it now. That loss was on the Braves bullpen, who absolutely crapped the bed. The Cardinals have the worst offense in the playoffs, perhaps in playoff history; allowing them to score that many runs in two innings is hard to do.
And I say all this as a lifelong Cardinal fan. I think the stats say we have a good bullpen, but they're godawful. They allow no runs whenever it makes no difference, but when it matters they give up runs most of the time. The Cards are in the playoffs because their starting pitching has been fantastic, and for absolutely no other reason. If your team is ahead when the Cards starter comes out of the game and you lose - you choked.
All that said, if I were the Braves manager I would have walked out to first base myself with a pinch runner and walked back to the dugout with Acuna. Absolutely disgraceful.
