I looked at this coin closely .

I am trying to determine the bands across the obverse surface .

I could not find any real distinction between the
band and the color of the surface of the coin.

Do you think it might be environmental damage ?

If so what caused it and would it not look different from what is already the surface color ?

I've seen this effect on coins that were stored in paper envelopes and had a rubber band holding a stack of envelopes together. Top and bottom coin would show these lines. In one case, after an acetone bath, there was slight surface pitting barely detectable without a loupe.

I own one that has similar lines albeit not as defined as the lines on your coin. It was from the casa grande collection and graded.

Thanks to both of you for your explanations .

I feel more confident to send it in for grading !
