For Sale 1892 Columbian half dollar Silver Commemorative PCGS MS66+ CAC. Rainbow color!

The 1892 Columbian half dollar commemorative is the very first coin in the early silver commemorative series. It was made to commemorate the Worlds Columbian Exposition in Chicago, known also as the Chicago World's Fair. The 400th anniversary of the discovery of the new world by Christopher Columbus marked the issuance of the first coin in the series. There were 950,000 minted portraying Christopher Columbus's portrait on the obverse with the Santa Maria, Columbus flagship over two globes on the reverse. The press at the time focused on the fact that each coin being sold was for twice face value.

The 1892 half dollar commemorative may be the most common types of the series of early silver dollar commemoratives, but finding one in high grade is extremely rare. Finding an example with incredible color is also extremely rare. An example in high grade with attractive color is double the rarity! This was a widely distributed coin to the public leaving many examples not very well taken care of. Examples with attractive color are extremely tough to come across.

This 1892 Columbian half dollar Commemorative certified by PCGS in MS 66 + offers top quality condition with a CAC label. The color on both obverse and reverse is bright and vibrant! The central portion on both obverse and reverse is a lovely sunburst-orange and swirls into bright rings of purple, ocean blue, hot-pink and golden hues. The surfaces are extremely clean, right on the cusp of MS 67. PCGS has only certified 40 examples to date in MS 66 +, and there are very few examples graded higher. This is an extremely rare example with quality this phenomenal.
