I believe this is an Italian States Venice gold ducat but could use the help of the expert to further identify this coin. Any help appreciated.

My attribution books are at work. These things are heavily counterfeited and I've heard that there are a large number of contemporary counterfeits and Russian-made ducats in the market that are passed as genuine examples.
If this came into a coin shop I owned I'd pass or buy it under bullion value.
Please Note: Coins cannot be authenticated by images unless someone is very specialized in Ducats. All I have said is I would not buy it at its numismatic value just to be safe.
Re: The original poster's coin:
The doge's (duke's) name is on the right of the obverse to the right of the flag.
On the coin the name is worn so one would have to compare this coin with other Venice ducats and locate one with a similar style and design.
I assume that the seller did not provide more information about the coin.
Here is my example:
Venice Ducat Doge Pasquale Cicogna 1585-1595
Gold, 20 mm, 3.50 gm
Obverse: Left Saint Mark, standing and facing right with banner, right, the Doge kneeling
S M VENET DVX PASC CICON
("Sacra Moneta Venetiae Dux Paschalis Ciconia" or "Sacred Money of Venice Duke Pasquale Cicogna")
Reverse: Christ standing with Book of Gospels, surrounded by stars and oval
SIT T XPE DAT QTV REGIS ISTE DVCAT
("Sit tibi, Christe, datus, quem tu regis, iste ducatus" or "To Thee, O'Christ, is Dedicated, Which Thou Rulest, this Duchy")

I questioned the authenticity as well and bought it as bullion but it did come with this COA. Doesn't make it authentic but still wondering.
I know nothing about coins of that type. However, the piece pictured just seems to look fake and if offered to me I would not make an offer. (It looks like it was cast.)
Three Venice Doges were active during 1420-1460:
Tommaso Mocenigo (1413–1423)
Francesco Foscari (1423–1457)
Pasquale Malipiero (1457–1462)

Sorry, I cannot find the attribution for this coin in a reasonable amount of time.
@PBRat provided images;
Thanks, I checked these rulers and images for many others and none matched the OP's coin. It also did not match examples of imitations in Venetian Gold Ducat by Ives.
