Looks normal (more or less) to me
An unplated planchet will be silver colored.
It looks like it's been plated after it left the mint. There is a common science experiment done in chemistry classes that plate cents.

I guest there must be quite a in circulation. That also explain the gold plated coins that you received when you purchase a lot of coins. There was a couples of apparently gold plated penny and quarters. Useful link, thanks.
