    Both appear to look good, what is the ink used? Black fountain pen can turn brown in time, and fountain pens were still very much in use during the time these could have been signed.

    At first glance I'd double check other examples of Grove - that one looks "drawn" (slowly and deliberately written) but maybe that is they way he signed it all the time.
