George McClellan Large Medal in white metal, 52mm by W.H. Key, GMcC-1864-86. Uncirculated. Ex. Charles McSorley Collection, $400
This is a fascinating piece very infrequently encountered by renowned medalist W.H. Key. Hulking 52mm medal in high relief, depicting the Army of the Potomac's revered General George McClellan on the obverse with a list of battles he commanded on the reverse. Stamped on the edge "W. H. Key Die Sinker 329 Arch St. Phila." Very scarce and appealing.
Thanks for looking!

Nice medal to possess. I presume you're a Civil War buff. Were others made of Union or Confederate generals?
I have the Stone Mountain half dollar commemorative with Lee and Jackson.
Thanks. I am a great admirer of the history of this country, and the Civil War in particular. There are many medals depicting Union generals, but Confederate pieces of the period are prohibitively rare. W.H. Key of Philadelphia would certainly not have made any.

Aye and thanks. I have a fondness for CW and Confederate
memorabilia in particular, but again, I like your medal. Would
that I had one.
