Have Jefferson proofs gone through the roof?

A 1975 proof Jefferson, PCGS 69DCAM, sold on Teletrade tonight for $250 + buyer's fees. Wow! Previous reference range on Teletrade was $6-$18!!. I need this one as an upgrade for my set, but will have to wait a while, I guess!

  • Wow! At least two people beside yourself want that coin badly! I don't think it is a general thing. The other nickels went fairly low or as expected.

I am surprised people still buy ICG coins. A 57 in ICG 69 DCAM went for $400, it looks like no cameo at all on the reverse so seems to be 10x overpriced. A '71 No S in IGC 69 DCAM went for $600 while one in NGC 67 Cam went for $575. The NGC coin looked nicer and had more contrast.

They're hard to find without all the numerous ticks and the such. I searched through many, many proof sets trying to find some of these monster coins.

  • A 1975 69DCAM sold on eBay for $177.50 on June 9. Not as high as yesterday's Teletrade, but it was still more than I was willing to pay to upgrade mine. They lost me at $100, which was higher than I thought I should be bidding.

  • wow that is amazing..I bought my 75 69DCAM in May 01...and thought I was paying too much at $75.00.....modern Jeffs are getting harder and tougher to find...for late 70's and back.....if the mint redesigns....despite the VA legislative contingents objections......I would see the Jeffs begin to climb.......but we are a few years away from that kind of steep climb.....Im trying to work pre 60's Jeffs and my wallet can stand the price tags now!!!!
