People hate the Yankees for the same reason people hate the Pat's and Cowboys. Between them they have almost a 1/4th of the SB's. Throw in the Steelers and it's over a 1/4th.
the Dallas Cowboys had their day as "America's Team" just like the Atlanta Braves did in MLB, both were good Teams at the time but they were marketing gimmicks. certainly there were a lot of Nationwide fans for both franchises but that's driven mainly by what I call "front-runners" which are people that have to be rooting for whoever is at the top. to test that thinking, where are all those loyal fans at now???
they're gone because they were neither loyal nor fans to begin with.
I suspect that both the New York Yankees and New England Patriots have loyal fan bases, the Yankees probably more so because they have really good for much longer. with New England I suspect that fan base will be tested when the end comes, and it will come eventually. an example here might be the Pittsburgh Steelers. they declined rapidly, over about 2-3 years, and are probably on a road to mediocrity right now. they have had legions of fans but many of those have started to fall away and only the loyalists will be left in the end.
fans just love to talk about dynasties but at heart they really don't like them.....................Oh, unless it happens to be their Team!!! I am sure that the Yankees and the Patriots can boast way more fans that dislike them. that is the sure sign of a Dynasty.
All in All, a very nice season for the Twins. As a fan, I picked up on them when they played the Phillies....I think it was the second or third series of the year. They were hitting the ball hard all over the place, up and down the lineup. I didn't think they were for real, but keep my eye on them and soon thereafter, they made me a believer. A good looking young team who can make some noise going forward. They played like I thought my Phillies would, but that never happened. Either way, congrats to them on a fine season.

No. I hate the Yankees because they seem to obliterate us every time we get in the playoffs.
I don't hate the Patriots, but I like to see different teams win the championship, so I usually cheer for the other team in the SB.
Nobody cares about the Cowboys, they are chaff.
You can call the Cowboys chaff all you want, but we still have 5 Lombardi Trophy's. While your team has 4 SB losses
So who again is the chaff??
Kick a guy when he's down much?
You call the Twins chaff (definition-worthless things or trash) after they win 101 games and set the new record for HR in a season, so by the comparison you brought up with football teams, I replied in the same manner.
Now you want to talk about the Vikings, we all know they lost 4 SB, and the Cowboys won a few (good for you), if you rip somebody's team (by the way the Twins have won a couple of WS) you should expect to hear some smack in return.
As far as your football team goes, I certainly don't hate them. Back when the teams were both good, the Vikings won about as much as they lost to the Cowboys.

Joe, why would you get in an argument with Dimeman, a guy who professes to hate MLB and now wants to come and talk about it like he's all-wise and knows something?? just put him on ignore and treat him like a troll.
remember, he quit on the Cowboys last season, started a thread about it, yet here he is again as a fair weather fan because they're playing well.

True. I did resist the urge to respond at first, but in the end I failed.

Joe, you had better go back a look. You are the one who brought up the Cowboys so I had to respond. I will check on the Dallas/Minn history. They have had some good teams and great players over the years.

keets, you are a POW (not the veteran kind). I have been a Cowboy fan for 59 years. I got pi$$ed last year, but have NEVER quit on them!! And never will!

Dallas is 16 - 14 with the Vikings including 7 post season games. Closer than I thought.

again Joe, why argue with him?? he lies and mis-represents to cover the fact that he can't NOT have an opinion................on everything. he did in fact quit the Cowboys and went so far as to start a thread explaining it, why they were "chaff" and why he was now going to support the Kansas City Chiefs. of course, and as expected, when Dallas started playing better he recanted.
aside to Dimeman --- I don't dislike you personally, but you lead-with-your-chin on so many issues. it reminds me of a saying I grew up with: Sometimes it's better to remain quiet and appear a fool than it is to speak and remove all doubt.

I was talking about Cowboy "smack" and you know it! If you start listening to @keets you will look as dumb as he is!
I know it's a cliché but PS really does boil down to pitching and the Twins just didn't have it when it counted. That's always tough to predict and why we play the games. As a huge Yankee fan I can tell you that aside from our bullpen I am still very worried about our SP. Their saving grace is that the game is changing and starters just don't go as far anymore. Many times less than 5 innings. So that bullpen is KEY.

It would have been nice to see what Berrios would have done in game 1 had he been left in, and then to have Odorizzi pitch in game two, instead of some guy with only 28 innings pitched in the majors. I mean REALLY, who makes decisions THIS STUPID?
We'll never know.
Your starting pitching may be shaky, but at least the manager uses them correctly. Balldoorknob would probably start Chapman.
